Mounties help two girls following theft

Members of the RCMP have stepped up to help two girls devastated by theft.

Constable Rob Gardner says police had been called to a break-and-enter in Black Creek and one of the things stolen had been money from a piggy bank.

“The children had talked about it and they’re quite devastated about the money that had been stolen. They had been saving their money for quite a while and they were gonna buy a [shared] iPod.”

Gardner says an email was sent around the detachment and within a day enough money was collected so each kid could have their own iPod.

He says it was a small gesture that members did to help and a lot of tears were shed on both sides when the money was presented to the family.
