Feds invest in digital skills youth program

The Federal government is setting aside $50 million for a digital skills program for kids in kindergarten to grade 12.

Pam Goldsmith-Jones, MP for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky Country-Sunshine Coast says they’re hoping these programs will benefit up to half-a-million kids.

“It’s so important to empower young people, studying [at such a young age] in this language of coding,” she says.

She adds that, “it’s also innovative in that our government is suggestion that these courses be taught outside of the school system.”

Goldsmith-Jones any organizations that have been delivering education-related programs in after school classes or summer camps can apply for the money and then the kids can start learning as early as this fall.
