Comox Fire hosting Island-wide training event

Upwards of 60 to 70 firefighters will be in Comox over the next 2 days for the Vancouver Island Firefighters Association training weekend.

Comox Fire Department Chief Gordon Schreiner says crew members will be taking part in many different training exercises, such as live fire training using gas props, car fires as well as survival and search training, and some classroom sessions.

The sessions go on all day Saturday and all of Sunday. Schreiner says there are no public demonstrations scheduled, but residents are welcomed to attend and check out the action.
