The first of the winter King Tides have arrived

The winter King Tides have arrived on the coast.

King Tides occur in the summer and winter and are the highest tides of the year.

Rick Thomson with the Institute of Ocean Sciences says the king tides become a problem when combined with winter storms.

Thomson says it’s the winter King Tides that are always more of a concern.

Thomson says the next set of King Tides are forecast to occur around Christmas. For more on the Institute of Ocean Sciences, visit bit.ly/1NeGwRG. For further information on King Tides, visit bit.ly/1OiZc3I.
