Local MPs speaking with Minister Tootoo

Our members of parliament Gord Johns and Rachel Blaney met with the Minister for Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard last week.

Blaney says the discussion was to inform Minister Hunter Tootoo about how important the Canadian Coast Guard’s Marine Communication and Traffic Services Centre in Comox was, and how it’s the eyes and ears of our ocean waves.

 

Blaney says the meeting was collaboration and consultation. She says they want to make sure they’re communicating to ensure when decisions are made, people who actually work in the area are part of the process.
