The Conservative Party of Canada has set the date to choose its new leader.
The vote will be held in May 2017.
Political Scientist and retired VIU professor Allan Warnke says he’s not surprised that the leadership contest won’t take place until next year.
Warnke notes that the party needs to figure out what it looks like without Stephen Harper at the helm.
