FNESC Welcomes Tribunal Ruling on Support for First Nations Children

The President of the First Nations Education Steering Committee is welcoming a ruling by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.

The Tribunal ruled that the Federal Government has discriminated against First Nations children by providing less funding to children on reserve than elsewhere in Canada.

Tyrone McNeill says the ruling opens an opportunity to look for ways to better support First Nations children.

McNeill says it’s important that young children receive good supports in their pre-school years so they are set up for success when they enter the education system.
