E-Comm 9-1-1 says Telus landline service has been restored to residents on the North Island.

— 9:00 a.m. —

E-Comm 9-1-1 is warning that some Telus customers on North Vancouver Island currently do not have landline service.

It says the communities include Ocean Falls, Holberg and Oweekeno.

According to the Telus website, the outage happened in Port Hardy at around 9:05 p.m. Tuesday night.

They say service technicians are investigating the issue and it’s ongoing. They suspect the cause to be a “hardware issue.”

“We recognize how this interruption may impact you, and we appreciate your patience as we work to restore services as quickly as possible,” Telus said in an update.

E-Comm says to still call 911 in an emergency in case service is restored. If no service is available, they say to go to your nearest emergency room, doctor, police or fire department if you are able.
