Overnight closures continue through November at Cormorant Island emergency department

Limited staffing means overnight closures at Cormorant Island Community Health Centre emergency department will be ongoing.

The closures from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. are continuing until at least Nov. 30. Island Health asks anyone going through a medical emergency not to go to the department while it is closed and call 911.

They add protocols are in place to transport patients to the correct alternate site.

If you are unsure, the health authority says to call HealthLink BC at 811 and speak with a registered nurse.

Island Health says they apologize for the inconvenience and are working to get more nursing coverage.
