Earthquakes Canada says a 4.8 magnitude earthquake west of Port Alice was recorded late Thursday night.
The quake happened at around 10:55, 166 kilometres west of the town and at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Because of this the quake was not felt by residents, no damage occurred or would be expected and there was no risk of a tsunami occurring.
