One dead after collision with semi near Woss on Highway 19

One person is dead after an SUV collided with a semi truck near Woss yesterday.

On Thursday at around 2:30 pm police were notified of a serious collision between a small SUV and a commercial semi truck on Highway 19. The driver of the SUV did not survive, says Corporal Alex Berube, BC RCMP spokesperson. The driver of the semi was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Initial reports indicate the SUV veered into the oncoming path of the semi, causing the collision.

Highway 19 around Woss was shut down for several hours so a police traffic reconstructionist could investigate the scene.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage of the area prior to the collision is asked to call Port McNeill RCMP at 250-956-4441.
