The cold snap caused a major water main break in Port Hardy, which is being repaired today.
Residents along Byng Road, Beaver Harbour Road, Storey’s Beach Road and all connecting side roads, and Fort Rupert Village had their water shut off this morning so repairs could be made. The water was scheduled to be turned back on at noon.
The district did not respond to a request for more information. However, social media posts from the district indicate the break was significant, resulting in the loss millions of litres of water from the district’s supply system.
