Port Hardy pool still on track for mid-February opening

The Port Hardy pool will be open for swimmers next month.

Contractors are working on the final stages of the pool repairs and renovations, installing the new liner and mechanical equipment.

The District says in the latest update that they hope to start filling the pool on January 31, which takes about four days. After that, all systems will be tested and regulators will do inspections, estimated to take a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile staff are being trained and the pool is looking to hire lifeguards. Full-time and part-time positions are available, visit the District of Port Hardy’s website to apply.

The pool has been closed since 2021 after serious leaks and mechanical problems were discovered. Renovations have been ongoing since March last year.
