Free swimming this month to celebrate pool re-opening

The Port Hardy pool is finally open, after nearly three years of repairs and renovations.

Even Mayor Pat Corbett-Labatt and Councillors Janet Dorward and Treena Smith got in on the celebration Monday, jumping into the pool after welcoming the public with a speech. In total about 170 swimmers and viewers came out for opening day.

The pool has regular programming back on the schedule, including Aquafit, Lengths, and Parent and Tot swims.

To continue the celebration swimming is free for the rest of this month, afterwards public and family swims will continue to be free while other sessions will have drop-in fees.

An official grand opening for the pool is on Sunday June 30 from noon to 2 pm, more details will be announced closer to the date.
