The M-P for Courtenay-Alberni has introduced a bill to make it easier for small businesses to keep the business in their family.
New Democrat Gord Johns says the current tax rules make it more expensive to sell a business to a family members than to sell to a stranger.
Johns says many business owners on Vancouver Island are looking at succession planning and what to do with their business when they want to retire.
