Nanaimo Airports hopes to inspire Indigenous youth to get their wings 

A new program to help inspire Indigenous youth and young adults is kicking off this month at Nanaimo Airport to help explore aerospace and aviation. 

According to a media release, “Give them Wings” is a partnership between Nanaimo Airport, Indigenous LIFT Collective Alakan Air, Elevate Aviation Learning Centre and Gulf Seaplanes. 

CFO and vice president of Nanaimo Airport Keith Granbois says the program will have several highlights including flight simulators, exploring aviation careers, interactive sessions, meeting industry professionals, and building partnerships in the aviation industry.  

The event is scheduled for Aug. 13, at the airport and will run between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
