Third Crossing Society looks for support

The Third Crossing Society in Powell River is seeking support from Vancouver Island communities for a third crossing to the island from the mainland.

The proposed route would join several sections of road to create a direct link from Powell River to the Interior, and link to the island through the Comox – Powell River Ferry.

Spokesperson Gary Fribance says they’ve already received a dozen letters of support from the south island and the interior.

The Province is currently conducting a feasibility study for a fixed link connection to Powell River.

Fribance says his group hopes to demonstrate that a new road would benefit not only Powell River, but communities up and down the island as well.
