Simons says those who hate are in the minority.

The M-L-A for Powell River – Sunshine Coast says while the events of the weekend were tragic, the important thing is what happened after.

More than 50 people were killed in a shooting at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida – the worst mass shooting in U-S history.

Nicholas Simons says, as a gay man, the violence on the weekend hits close to home.

But he says watching the outpouring of support for the victims shows that those who hate are in the minority.

Simons says most people are generous, compassionate and kind and that’s the thing that should be remembered.
