Congrats NDP, now show resource sector some love, says BC biz council

BC’s resource industries need to be a top priority for the new provincial government, says the Business Council of BC.

The organization congratulated the BC NDP on their victory this week in a statement, but added the election results underscore that affordability is a top concern for British Columbians. They say it’s essential to look to BC’s most productive industries as part of the solution to significant economic challenges.

That includes industries essential to Vancouver Island, forestry, energy, and mining, which provide some of the best-paying jobs in the province.

The council says that economic stability and growth will be crucial to maintaining an attractive business environment in BC moving forward.

The council is non-partisan and represents more than 200 businesses, post-secondary institutions, and other organizations in BC.
