Canada Post has issued a 72-hour lockout notice to the union, meaning there could be a work stoppage on Friday.
The Crown Corporation says its plans to suspend the collective agreement because of the long negotiations, the union’s strike mandate, and the financial cost of the decline in mail volume.
The main sticking point in the negotiations has been changes to pension plans.
Following the notice, the postal workers says it will do everything they can do to keep mail running,
The union also says they have no plans to issue a strike notice.
