Port Hardy tourism has had an increase of 36 per cent this summer.
Mayor Hank Bood says the city and chamber of commerce did expect a little increase for the industry, but not this much.
Bood says some of the guided fishing tours and kayaking companies are seeing some of the bigger increases, as well as the North West trails.
