Slow down and move over when passing an emergency vehicle

North Island Traffic Services is reminding drivers to slow down and move over when passing an emergency vehicle with its lights flashing.
Sergeant Craig Blanchard says police recently pulled over a vehicle after the driver failed to slow down and move over, then sideswiped the police vehicle.
Blanchard says the driver was issued a violation ticket for failing to slow down, and move over for a stopped emergency vehicle.

Blanchard says when a driver refuses to slow down and pull over, the violation carries a minimum fine of $175.
