New trust to help the Great Bear Rainforest

A new trust has been established to help the Great Bear Rainforest.
The million-dollar trust was established to commemorate the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and to celebrate the endorsement of the rainforest under the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy Initiative.
Minister of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations, Steve Thomson says the goal of the trust is to raise awareness of the rainforest.
Thomson says he’s pleased to see the Great Bear Rainforest agreement receive international attention as an example of how to find a balance between protecting the environment and economic interests.
