Safe hiking during Fall season

Ground Search and Rescue is reminding hikers to be prepared now that we’re into fall hiking season.

Volunteer Daryl Beck says it’s important to carry enough gear that you’ll be able to keep warm if you get lost, or something goes wrong.

He notes one of the biggest problems that hikers can encounter is the quick change in weather now that we’re into the fall season.

Beck says it’s always a good idea to pack a space blanket, extra food, a sounding device, and warm clothes in your pack. He adds in case you do get lost, stay in one spot because it’s easier for Search and Rescue to locate you.
