World Mental Health Day

The World Health Organization states that if people don’t act urgently, by 2030, depression will be the leading illness globally. World Mental Health Day is being recognized across the world today, and this year’s theme is psychological first-aid.

B.C.’s Health Minister, Terry Lake, says everyone needs to build their confidence to help their family, friends, and colleagues with mental health. He says that it’s also important to focus on strengthening supports for children and youth with mental health and substance use concerns.

The Mental Health Foundation states that every week, one in six adults has a common mental health problem. For more details, visit mentalhealth.org.
