Port McNeill RCMP drug trafficking investigation nets 3 arrests

A drug trafficking investigation in Port McNeill has led to three arrests and the seizure of drugs, cash, firearms, tobacco and vehicles.

Port McNeill RCMP and the Island District general investigation section executed several search warrants at residences and vehicles in the North Island.

Large quantities of suspected illicit drugs, cash, firearms, contraband tobacco, and vehicles believed to be connected to criminal activity were seized, including:

  • More than $100,000 in Canadian currency
  • Approximately one kilogram of suspected cocaine
  • Significant quantities of other suspected controlled substances, including suspected ketamine
  • Additional quantities of suspected illicit drugs pending analysis
  • Two rifles and one shotgun, along with ammunition
  • More than 100 cartons of illicit and unstamped tobacco products
  • Multiple cellular devices believed to be associated with drug trafficking activity
  • Two vehicles that investigators will be seeking to forfeit as proceeds and instruments of crime

“This was a significant disruption to suspected drug trafficking activity in the North Island region,” said Sgt. Erin Stevenson, commander of the Port McNeill RCMP detachment. “The amount of cash, drugs, firearms, and contraband seized during this investigation demonstrates the serious nature of the criminal activity involved.”

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and charges are still being assessed. No further details are being released at this time.
