Safely disposing your pumpkins

It’s almost time to dispose of your Halloween pumpkins.

The holiday is coming up and the compost education centre says it’s important to get rid of your jack-o-lanterns in a safe manner.

Spokesperson Elaine Jansen says in some communities, there are pumpkin smash events that are great ways to get rid of your pumpkins.

Jansen says if there is no pumpkin smash event in your area – make sure to dispose of your pumpkins in a backyard compost – or, if they’re still good for cooking, donate them to a local food bank.
