New sobering beds are now available in Port Hardy.
Sara Gogo with Island Health says the six new beds open today and will be open year-round for those who need a safe place to sleep. She notes they will be offered from 5:30 PM to 7:30 AM, and in the extreme weather months, the number of beds will grow up to 12, if necessary.
Gogo says the beds and services available will also help people connect to other services, if they are ready to seek treatment.
