It’s been a good year for the tourism boating business. More people are taking advantage of an online tool to plan boating trips up and down the Coast.
Michael McLaughlin is the Manager of the BC Ocean Boating Tourism Association. He notes that this is a 5th good year in a row for the industry.
McLaughlin says between 60 and 65% of the tourism boaters are BC residents, about 27% are Americans and the balance is mostly from Alberta. He says the Association is also continuing to promote the Ahoy BC website, which had more than 5,000 visitors this season, double from last year.
That website helps boaters plan trips throughout the coastal and island shores in BC.
