Province creating more than 1900 new campsites

The provincial government will be creating more campsites and hiring more park rangers.

Premier Christy Clark made the announcement as part of the BC Parks Future Strategy.

She says the government is committing $23-million to add 1900 new campsites. She says the government will improve accessibility within provincial parks and increase the number of Park Rangers.

Rick Careless is the chair of the Campaign for BC Parks. He says the strategy contains a number of initiatives which will help the parks system into the future.

Clark says BC’s parks are a gift to the world and it’s important that gift is preserved for future generations to enjoy.
