Forest industry working to strengthen relations with Asian markets

The British Columbian forestry industry is looking to further develop its partnership with Japan.

Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Steve Thomson, and 25 delegates are visiting Japan and China for the 2016 Forestry Trade Mission in Asia.

The itinerary includes attending a forestry conference in Shanghai. Thomson says the conference will be important to help increase the value of B.C.’s forestry sector.

Thomson notes the Chinese forestry sector is worth over $1.2 billion. He says meetings with Chinese officials are also being held to maintain and develop relations.
