Port Hardy Mayor pleased with Fire department’s new truck

Port Hardy Fire has welcomed its newest piece of equipment.

Ladder 17 arrived in town this week.

Mayor Hank Bood says the new truck was built specifically for the department and is an important investment for the community.

“I think council felt very good getting them a top of the line piece of equipment that will be a lot safer for the fire department when it comes to fighting fires on upper floors of our bigger buildings.”

He adds that if it’s safer for the firefighters, it’s safer for the community.

One of the features of the new truck is a longer ladder, which will enable firefighters to reach the top of four-story buildings.
