Debate starts on Liberal’s throne speech

Debate begins today on the Liberal government’s speech from the throne.

The government’s agenda was presented in the house last week and included an about-face on many previous Liberal policies and incorporated a number of ideas from both the NDP and Green Party election platforms.

North Island MLA Claire Trevena says it’s hard to believe the Liberals have genuinely had such a big change of heart.

“I think people can see through it – it’s a desperate attempt to cling on to power when they clearly don’t have the confidence of either the people of BC or the other two parties in the house.”

A confidence vote is expected to come forward this week.
