One teenager is in serious hospital care after an alleged assault in the wooded area of the Gwa’Sala- ‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations (GNN) Reserve.
RCMP responded to an incident on April 30 shortly before 6:00 p.m. on an isolated dirt road to the report of a youth severely injured.
Police arrived with information that the suspect fled into the bushes, with officers containing the area and flew in Police Dog Service from the Comox Valley to assist with the search.
The police dog was able to track down the suspect who was arrested, and a second suspect was identified and taken into custody from a nearby residence.
Both the victim and the suspect are known to each other, the investigation revealed.
While the youth victim is in hospital with serious injuries, they are not believed to be life threatening.
