Port Hardy’s newest Councillor has been officially sworn in.
Leightan Wishart won by acclamation at by-election to replace outgoing Councillor Jesse Hemphill, who resigned her council seat. He says running for council is something he’s thought about for quite a while.
He says there are a couple of items at the top of his agenda, including improving relations with First Nations partners in the region, and improvements to local tourism.
Wishart says he’s also looking forward to further work on the new Port Hardy multiplex project.
