Those winds could have an impact on an eight-hectare human caused wildfire in Sayward.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the blaze is along Frenchman Road, close to the North Island village.

An update from the village government has said that the fire is still out of control, with crews and emergency personnel still on scene fighting the fire from the ground and the air. Ten firefighters, one officer, two helicopters, and two tree-fallers with BC Wildfire are battling the fire.

The fire will be monitored this evening, and overnight, and re-assessed in the morning. A crew of 30 firefighters will be headed to the village tomorrow.

Residents of Frenchman Road have reported being warned to evacuate, depending on the behaviour of the wind.
