Approximately 7300 North Island BC Hydro customers lose power

BC Hydro says around 7300 customers in the North Island area are without power because a transmission structure is damaged.

The people affected are primarily in Port Hardy, Port McNeill, Port Alice, Coal Harbour, and surrounding communities.

Crews are currently working to fix the structure.

BC Hydro says they are hoping that power will be restored for all those affected by 2:00 am Sunday.
