A man is dead following an accident at a forestry company’s operations near Port McNeil.
Reports say a TimberWest equipment operator was killed Friday afternoon at the company’s Bonanza Lake site.
In a statement from TimberWest released Friday, CEO Jeff Zweig described the event as a tragic accident.
Zweig says in the statement that he and the company express their deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues touched by this.
It’s reported that the company will suspend operations across the province today out of respect for those involved in the incident.
WorkSafeBC and the RCMP are investigating the death.
