The head of the North Island 9-1-1 corporation is reminding people to stay on the line if you accidentally dial 9-1-1.
Larry Samson says abandoned calls are a huge issue for emergency services across the province.
He says dispatchers at North Island 9-1-1 deal with 12-thousand abandoned calls each year.
Samson says emergency services are required to follow-up on abandoned calls to ensure that everyone is okay.
