Port McNeill Celebrates Local Businesses at Chamber Awards

The Port McNeill Chamber of Commerce is recognizing the advancements made by the business community in 2017.

12 awards were handed to local businesses at a ceremony on October 21st.

Vice President of the Chamber Damaris Sadler notes a key initiative was encouraging unity throughout the business community.

She says that some of the points of focus they have are “coming together as a community to help each other, to be aware of each other’s products, to shop local instead of going down Island, to benefit from what another company has.”

Sadler says the unity principle was best demonstrated through an unlikely partnership.

“One example is the coffee that the kids at the high school are producing was actually used by Kingfisher Kayaks, and we put those two [groups] together.”

For a full listing of award winners and more information on the ceremony, Sadler recommends visiting the Chamber of Commerce Facebook page and website.
