Port McNeill builds connections with neighbors

Port McNeill is creating stronger bonds with other surrounding communities starting this year.
Mayor Shirley Ackland says they’re trying to build partnerships with neighbors, businesses, and First Nations to survive and sustain themselves as small rural communities.
She says it’s already happening in their grade schools, as well as at North Island College with the teachings of First Nations languages, cultures, and history.
Ackland says they began some initial conversations about how they can work together.
