Historic mine at Cowichan Lake being explored for new gold, silver, copper potential

A Vancouver-based mining company is hoping to strike gold in the tailings left over from a historic mine near Cowichan Lake.

Sasquatch Resources is examining a site on the south side of Cowichan Lake where a copper, gold, and silver mine operated from 1917 to 1919, and again from 1956 to 1960.

According to a statement from the company, the claims hold a significant amount of waste rock from previous mining operations. Sasquatch Resources plans to evaluate the composition, volume, and economic potential from the waste rock over the coming months.

The company recently acquired the rights to explore the site and extract a limited amount of resources over the next three years.
