Free Indigenous-focused music festival in Alert Bay today

There’s a free, family-friendly music festival happening this afternoon in Alert Bay.

The Moveable Feast Indigenous music and cultural tour is today at the ‘Namgis Big House Field in Alert Bay, it begins at 1 pm and runs until 11 pm.

The tour features Indigenous musicians and local guests, and founder Meeka Morgan says the goal is to showcase the stories of the people and the land, and how it came to be that way.

Morgan says the event started after organizers saw a need for an all-Indigenous led and centred event, where multiple generations can take part in artistic expressions in a high-quality production.

The show will also be livestreamed for people who can’t make it in person, go to the Virtual Feast website to watch live.
