RCMP detachment welcomes new commander in Port Hardy

Port Hardy RCMP has a new Detachment Commander, Staff Sergent Kim Rutherford, who joined in September.

Rutherford has nearly 22 years of service with the RCMP. She has been posted in several communities, including Nootka Sound and Campbell River, and has also served with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

She says Port Hardy is a busy detachment with opportunities for members to develop investigative skills and make meaningful connections. She says one of her main goals will be to work with her colleagues and provide them the support and opportunities they need to achieve their career goals.

She thanked the community for being welcoming, and helping her feel at home in her new role.
