Expect cougars while hiking in the woods

Conservation Officers are reminding residents to expect cougars, especially if you’re in the woods.
Sergeant Ben York says they have seen a recent uptick in the number of cougar sightings.
He says the reality, especially on Vancouver Island, is that cougars are always around.
York says if you encounter a cougar, make yourself look big.
He says it’s important to always keep a close eye on kids and pets when you’re in the bush.
