North Vancouver Island one step closer for Whale Heritage Site

North Vancouver Island is moving forward on being granted Whale Heritage Site status.
Mount Waddington Manager of Economic Development Pat English says auditors are in the region interviewing community members to confirm the region is behind the initiative and confirm the historical connections the region has with whales.
He says the findings will be put together into a report.
According to the North Island Marine Mammal Stewardship Association, accreditation may help promote sustainable tourism and marine conservation.
