Province releases first intake of rural dividend fund

The first intake of the province’s rural dividend fund has been released.

More than $8-million in funding is going to small communities across the province, including several on the North Island.

Parliamentary Secretary Donna Barnett says the funding is aimed at providing support to rural communities that are having issues with economic growth and development.

The Village of Sayward and the the District of Port Hardy are receiving $100,000.

The Village of Alert Bay is getting $239,000 and the Gwa-sala- ‘Nakwaxda ‘wx Nation is receiving $407,000 in partnership funding.
