Zeballos wins BC’s ‘Best Tap Water’ prize

The village of Zeballos has won an award for its water.

At the 4th annual tap water taste test in Victoria, the village beat out 9 other communities for the top prize as the best tap water in British Columbia.

Mayor Donnie Cox says it’s a very important and widely celebrated competition. He notes the secret to the village’s water purity is its simplicity.

“Good West Coast weather and lots of precipitation.” he says.

“From the sky to the river, from the river to the well, and from the well to the tap.” This is the first time Zeballos has received the top prize at the competition.

The village beat out 9 other B.C. communities: Big White resort’s water utility, the Capital Regional District, Penticton, Port Alberni, Clearbrook’s waterworks district, SunDorn Estates and 3 areas of the district of Hope (East Kawkawa Lake, Silver Creek, and the town of Hope itself).
