Accessibility committee seeks volunteers to help improve govt services

Triport communities are still looking for volunteers to help make the region more accessible for people with disabilities.

The North Vancouver Island Accessibility Committee is working on a new accessibility plan, which will help people better access government services and facilities.

The plan will identify, remove and prevent barriers experienced by people with disabilities when they interact with local governments. Those could include physical barriers, or systemic, communication and technology barriers.

The plan will apply to Port Hardy, Port McNeill, Port Alice, Alert Bay, and the Mount Waddington Regional District.

The deadline for volunteers has been extended to April 10, visit the Port Hardy district website for more information about how to apply.
