Port Hardy Fire Chief Retires

Port Hardy’s Fire Chief has retired.

Schell Nickerson’s last day was Monday.

Mayor Hank Bood says the entire community is grateful for Nicherson’s years of service with the department. “It’s understood by the people of the District of Port Hardy that it’s a volunteer service so all of those hours are basically non-paid. It takes a certain type of individual, like Schell Nickerson, to put that kind of time in.”

Bood says the District has asked Deputy Chief Brent Borg to take on the role as Chief.
